I need advice on a sling for my New Heavy Barrel XCR with folder.

I think I want to use the sling eyelet at the rear of the reciever so maybe a hook type will work and maybe a DD mount to the front of the hand rail.

What sling ?? If I get another Vickers will it be too long ?

See pic..

advice please

Here's one problem that I had when attempting to use the Vickers and an HK-style hook at the rear of the receiver:

When I brought the gun up to fire, the sling was pulled fairly taut from the rear of the receiver to the right side of my neck. This created a barrier between my cheek and the stock that made it uncomfortable and difficult to get a good cheek weld.

I also found that using the HK-style hook at the back of the folding stock put a lot of hardware right in my face because everything is on top of the stock.

I would recommend using a soft attachment to the rear of the stock. Use paracord or something to that effect to attach the sling. I honestly believe it's the only way to make it work.

Good luck and Happy Turkey Day!

I think I get what you're saying..

My light barrel XCR has a Modstock so the Vickers two point works well.

I may have to try a single point on the folder. And I just sold two of them. :duh:

I seen a post of a bungee hook style that got good reviews.. anyone know what they are?

I just picked up a vickers for my folder, I am here in Savannah where they are made so it was nice to try it out first. I will link a few different options for you. I did try to mount it to the receiver but as was already said, it pulled way to tight on my neck. I moved it back to the rear mount point and all is well. Since the Army wont let me use my own weapon I will probably never have the need to carry it around folded. The single point that I tried on mine is this one...

It worked well but didn't hold the weapon close enough for me when I wanted to trasnition to pistol.

This is what I used to mount the vickers

It works real well but we are going to try cutting it down a little as it is like adding a 6" extension to the sling. We are going to cut it down as short as we can and still loop it on. I should be doing that next week.

I got everything from the guys at Daniel Defense. They too are local and have a nice setup and good prices too. I will post some pics of my setup soon, I am just waiting on a package from LaRue Tactical.

I've been trying the Vickers two point and having the same issues. The receiver hook didn't work at all and the ring on the top of the folding stock also is uncomfortable when you shoulder the weapon.

I was thinking about the loop sling and trying to attach it to the bottom of the rear of the stock. Has anybody tried that yet?

Search Youtube for:
HK G36 Instruction video - Part 3
It shows a 2 point connected at the receiver and front sight.

I don't want a G36 because you have to use what the give you (e.g. sights). And I can't load it up with toys. :rapidfire:

I use a 3 point on my 20" AR. I like how it works and the options for carry.
But it is a lot of webbing to deal with.

I think the sling ring on the butt stock is so you can hang the gun on a nail in the closet so it will be ready for zombie action. :bazooka: :bolt:

Go with whatever you feel comfortable with. Crappy answer but for me slings don't differ that much form each other unless you're comparing single pont, two point and three point and even that is personal preference.

I used to carry with a two point sling but mostly it was a pain in the ass so I switched to single point for CQB and three point for patroling. When out and about behind the lines I didn't use one as in my experience slings make you lazy.
