Just to encourage some debate and posts

What would you have If you could only have

1 Revolver
1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
1 Bolt Action Rifle
1 Semi-Automatic Rifle
1 Automic Rifle
1 Select Fire Sub-Machine Gun
1 Lever Action Rifle
1 Pump Action Shotgun
1 Semi-Automatic Shotgun

But you had unlimited ammo and parts and did not have to worry about the price of the weapon

To be used for Hunting,Self-defence, Range,Competition,What ever you want to use it for

What would you choose and why ?

What for?

As I don't hunt, a semi auto pistol. It's is the mose flexible, can engage at the most likely distances and is controllable. Most are now as reliable as a revolver and can shoot fairly powerful ammo.

You also missed the option of a sub-machine gun.

If I were a hunter I suspect my choice would be different.

Yeah I meant if you could have only one weapon of the following types what would you have

If I knew in advance what I needed and what I was facing, I would choose a 12 gauge shotgun with at least a 3" chamber. I could swap barrels for the various uses I needed.

18"-20" smoothbore barrel for HD w/ an Imp. Cyl. or Light Mod choke.

20"-24" rifled barrel for rifled slug use.

22"-26" vent-rib smoothbore barrel w/ interchangeable choke tubes, for upland/turkey hunting.

26"-28" vent-rib smoothbore barrel w/ interchangeable choke tubes, for waterfowl hunting.

If I was going to shoot less than lethal ammunition, I would choose a pump shotgun, otherwise, I would choose a semi-auto.

I would be happy with any one of these shotguns. I placed the shotguns from first choice to last, which does not mean that the last place are bad, just that, IMO, the ones above them are better/more versatile.
