Here is my new beetle. I was originally planning on a vintage beetle, but decided against it at the last minute. Who needs three cars anyway? heh.

So, we traded in our little Ford Escort and bought this cutie. I would have liked a girlier color... and preferably automatic... but I had to compromise in order to get something Mr. Man would be willing to drive. So... there she is.

(I should mention this.... Four hours into ownership, and 1 hour into having it switched onto our insurance, I ran it into our house. It was a bit of a misunderstanding between gas/brake and my foot. I have never driven standard before, and I must say I did quite well up until said incident. It wasn't THAT bad. I just skooshed the hood a little. Thank god for insurance! No doubt the Geico claims guy had a good laugh at my expense...)

All fixed now...

ooo shiny... :43:

Thats a sharp little car you have there. I have a volkswagen too but its a 2005 jetta tdi diesel. Gets awesome mileage. I can drive 600-650 miles on a 15 gallon tank of fuel. And even though it gets great mileage it has plenty of pep too.

Oh, I do love Jettas. they are a little more than beetles... We got a great deal on this one. $10,900, great condition inside and out, 38000 miles. :)

I bought my jetta new in 05 when the Canadian dollar was low. Paid 31000 fully loaded. Has 52800 miles on it right now. Probably could get 12-15k for it right now. Mine has the sun roof too I can have someone shoot while i drive. >:D

Terra: Nice car there. ;) It is very shiney (nice reflection in that 2nd pic too)

You should have gotten an auto if that's what you wanted. There's too many hills, too many stop lights/signs and way too much traffic to drive a manual around here. My Wrangler's got a 6-speed, but I only drive it occasionally anyway because I took the top, doors and carpet out.

Smitty, I'm a big fan of turbo diesels too. My (wifes) E320 has the V6 TD motor and gets 28-37mpg and it's actually quicker than the petrol motor. My trucks got the TD. and when my warranty is out on the jeep next year, I plan on converting it to the V6 TD that's in the Grand Cherokee's. Better mileage and way more power. Mopar even offers an over-the-counter TD conversion for Wranglers, but it's the I4 that was in the Liberty. It's still a Deimler-Chrysler motor and fine but I want more power.

Autos suck. Best to stick with the Manual plus its more fun to drive especially in hilly places with lots of stop lights and traffic. I will never go back to an auto except for maybe a truck someday when I can justify the cost vs need.

Well, that all depends on the automatic. 4 cylinder car = crap. 8 cylinder truck = fun. I burn rubber in my durango just pulling out of parking spots. >:D

I have driven the beetle twice now. First time ended in the demise of the bumper. Second time I had a panic attack 15 minutes in.

HOWEVER, I didn't kill it. Not once. Didn't grind any gears either. Methinks I have natural talent. God save you all once I get the hang of it. >:D >:D >:D

Driving little cars like that manual is probably the most fun you can have driving. They are fast, nimble, maneuverable and you are low to the ground so you really feel in control.

Brings back memories of my MINI Cooper S :'(

ugh. I hate the coopers. I love space - and there is just none in those things. I feel like a sardine being crammed into the eye of a needle.
