IMO, WW I was stopped by the flu virus, not some battlefield victory by the allies. both sides were losing more men from the flu than they were from battlefield injuries. in one stateside camp in america, they were stacking dead men like firewood, there were just too many to handle. don't kid yourself about the severity of this little bug. the next pandemic will be some type of flu virus, avian or otherwise, and it will spread much faster and farther in todays jet society.

The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. I keep finding difrent results, difrent statistics but cant find them twice, WWI ended on November 11 1918, it hadnt had a chance to claim quite enough people yet to be a factor I dont think, it was a post war crisis...
