OK, I am ready to take down all the orders in one place, so I can update everyone that wants one and figure out how much material I need. If you want one then follow this link, [email protected]
cut a paste this in your heading XCR FCH and in the body tell me how many you want and what your address is.
Do all that and I will have you down. I'll let you know when it is time for funds.

Well guys I've finished drawing up the specs for a folding charging handle ala SLR style and I have a machinist (mountainman on the FALFiles) to make them. I'll have my sample here soon and I'll take plenty of pics. Now, they're going to be made from aluminum, because for obvious reasons we don't want a steel handle slamming closed on a aluminum receiver. In order for him to have the aluminum anodized he needs 15 or more people committed to purchasing one, or else he'll just paint them. So how about it, who would be interested in one?

ETA:

- This will be a complete unit made of 7075 aluminum, the lug will be 4140 pre-hardened steel, as will the knob.
- Price looks like it will be $73, and that's for the entire unit with anodizing and shipping included.
- I changed the design making the slide as short as possible without exposing charging handle track cut into the receiver, so it should work with ezed's adapter. Either way, there's no way to go shorter without leaving an exposed slot into the internals.

The List (it's a go!):
- Rain Away (1)
- Norm0931 (1)
- MickeyC (2)
- Underground (1)
- TomAiello (2)
- Merlin (1)
- Martens (2)
- DSM (1)
- captain92 (1)
- cavegeo (1)
- Gramps96Kz (3)
- Habrok (1)
- cjt50 (1)
- nyati13 (1)
- MrChem (1)
- Mad Dawg (1)
- davek (1)

Here are some CAD's of the prototype (still tweaking the handle CAD). I didn't list any of the dimensions since they may be tweaked once I get my test sample:

And here's some pics of a modified SLR handle that I found in the parts bin:

I am he. I plan on making these out of 7075. If an order big enough for anodizing goes through then they are $73 a pc and that includes S&H. The lug will be 4140 pre hardened steel. The knob will also be the same material. I plan on working closely with AEnemaBay to get the rail fit and everything just right. Basically these have a much slimmer profile then the knobbed charging handle. On these the knob is folded down and when you need to charge then you move it up ( for those not familiar with the FAL para) The only thing with me is that you need to be patient. I don't have a CNC and everything takes me a while to make. Is there anyone on here with an XCR close to 32738 zip code? If you need forard assist then that will not happen with this handle, I will be working on something else for that.

I would be interested in picking one of these up. I know you said it would take time and that's fine by me but, how long are we looking at? Just looking for a ballpark figure. Nice work btw. I really wish I had more experience working with a mill and lathe, you guys come up with some amazing stuff.
I'd say give it about 3 months. I have to clear some issue with the knobs and and the lugs then I get started. What is certain is that on Wednesday I am ordering materials. The rails will get done lickety split. BTW, my knobs don't look like those Indian knobs, mine are rounded without sharp corners.

speak now or forever hold your peace, 7075 order will be finalized tomorrow.
Once the aluminum gets put on teh big brown truck I will begin updating everyone via both e mail and on this post. All I can say is be patient, Manually making parts takes very long. Then I have to perfect the anodizing and all.
hurdle #1 getting 7075 aluminum in 1/2" by 5/8" flats. Working on it, but my regular source is a no go. But have been working on pivots since yesterday and will work on lugs and plungers after tomorrow when teh brown truck arrives.
7075 is getting ripped to width and gonna hit my address some time next week. Boy is that stuff expensive compared to 6061. I also have been learning that after degreasing, I will have to acid etch the 7075 before the anodizing bath. Have already made the pivots, working on the plungers and after that the lugs.
Got all the materials for the knobs and lugs. working on aluminum knob plungers right now. 7075 will be arriving hopefully in Fri. Will be getting in touch with all individuals about payment hopefully tonight.
Make that next Fri. Will be working on slide and knob prototypes for XCR so I will be ready to test it on a rifle by the 25th.
Some one from Orlando is dropping by on the 25th with an XCR. I have 4 knobs and 2 lugs (my 5c collet is too tight, awaiting a replacement) made for a prototype so far. ( onesies and twosies take like 20X as much time to make as 30's and 40's). Just need that aluminum to show up and I have something to try out on a rifle.
Fri is the big day. I'll have the prototypes ready for testing.
7075 just arrived. Tomorrow I get started on a slide.
Made 2 today. Hope everybody is ready to start sending in funds. I will e mail everyone with totals after the Holiday. Its gonna take a while to get the anodizing straightened out.
slide width is .395 and not .400. Lug needs to be .020" shorter than the prinst that I got. This uses the exact same knob as a metric FAL. That is what we have learned today. I almost got the 5C collet chuck mounted to the lathe today. Once that is mounted I can take off on the lugs.
I thought that not having knobs stems and doohikies not sticking out of the rifle was a good thing. Keep It Streamlined Silly
you were teh first person I emailed from my Mountainmantacticalforge email

about 45% complete on the knobs. Trudging away with the HSS 3/16 radius corner rounding end mill. This cheap bastard should have gotten the carbide cost 3X as much works 5X as fast and now it feel like I am :deadhorse:
Got all the knobs completed today. Working on the slides now.
Milling Machine took a dump on me last Tue. I orderted the limit switch for the power feed unit. Today I re soldered it on there ( I just learned to solder on that switch). I am waiting for the silicon that I encased those leads in to dry up so I can clean it all up with a razor and pack it back in its box tomorrow and get back on track. Meanwhile on another front got a new sandblast cabinet so I can prep the parts for anodizing ( bead blast) and parkerizing ( sand blast) and the ballast for the fluorescent went dead after 5 mins. Manufacturer says new ballast is in the mail this morning. Just an update for everyone.
