Hello all,

I have been communicating with Alex over the possibility of being supplied with a Compete XCR-L upper so that I can change calibers by simply changing uppers.

Well here's the news. I have been authorized to let you know that RobArm will be releasing their XCR-L upper in a "stripped" condition as part of their spare parts category. The price for this "stripped" upper will be $350.00 retail. If you want to make it into a complete upper well you just need to add the required parts. Alex informed me that he designed the XCR upper to be a "consumable" part that when it wears you can simply swap it out! Brilliant!

This to me seems a very attractive alternative to swapping out barrels, especially if you are looking at making a long range setup with a high power scope!

Another thing I learnt from our communication is that continued swapping of barrels is NOT detrimental to the XCR Upper as I previously thought. Alex said that the swap might become easier the more you do it, but it won't get to the stage where you will wear out the barrel bushing to the extent that it becomes unusable. That's good news!

These uppers may not be available for a little while, or at least until they catch up with their current orders, and will appear in the RobArm spare parts section.

If I can be of any assistance with anyone wanting to go this route, just drop me an e-mail at [email protected] I will be more than happy to help.

Thanks, Roy

I can definitely see where having a dedicated upper for long range calibers and another for the SBR and CQB type barrels could be useful.

Terra,

Can you work up a parts list od what extra will be needed to fit out the upper to completion? Of corse, a Caliber conversion kit (the ejection port buffer should be in the kit?); Ejector and bolts; Buffer; Charging handle; recoil spring; operating rod? Have I covered all that is needed, or have I doubled up on something?

I read this and think about the latest gun rag article on the Masada where they detail how fantastic a job Magpul did of making the guide rails for the bolt carrier permanently attached and I know I bought the right rifle. I have always viewed the XCR's barrel attachment as primarily for maintence needs rather than caliber swaps. I am glad that it will be for sale as a seperate item.

a buffer is not needed, that goes in the lower.

parts in an upper...

helicoils (1 big, 1 small. but i'm sure it will come with at least those... they're a b* to put in)
charging slide, handle
ejector, screws, washers
ejection port deflector
barrel lock screw

Alex did say it may be a couple of month off before he lists all the spare parts on the web site for the XCR.

Go figure, a product that is designed to last and have parts that can be replaced instead of a throw-a-way product!

Now that's new thinking, for this day and age anyway!

Good work Alex!

I thought you would like this Juice!

Alex told me to tell everyone the cost of the upper will be $350 retail, plus parts.

I think you could just about work out the cost if you went to the web site?
