All,

The department is looking at buying 5 XCR during this budget year and we are looking at short barrels. I have talked with Terra and the shortest factory barrel is 12 inches. She said that can do 11 or 11.5 but they have not been factory tested.

I am pretty sure some of the guys here have shorter than 12 inch barrels and would like to hear your first hand results. What gas settings work with what ammo, have you have to enlarge the gas ports, etc.

Roy's got an 11.5". Shoot him an email. I think he may even have reported on it somewhere on this forum...

I have mine cut down somewhere between 11 and 11.5". I cut it the shortest I could on the CNC lathe that was doing the cutting. It runs on setting 4 with factory ammo just fine. My reloads aren't as strong and don't cycle as well. I was planning on opening the gas port up when I get home, I didn't have time before I left to come over here. I think it will run just fine once I open it up a bit.
