Pretty sure that is a Tango Down. I king of like the concept, as it allows a short footprint and low profile with plenty of extension. Never liked the price, and Versa-Pod makes a nice Parker-Hale clone.

How do you like that Choate stock on your bolt gun? (Looks like a Savage; I have a .308 10FP myself and I am thinking of getting that same stock.)

+2. I've been planning to rebuild an old 700 I have for a suppressor gun. I don't want to drop a lot of cash into it and that stock looked like a winner.

The Choate stock is great. Made by Choate Machine and tool company. Has some fairly decent ergonomics. Pretty comfortable to shoulder and keep up for extended periods of time. Mind you the bigger the hand the better for wrapping it around the grip but I remedied that by placing my thumb along the bolt.

Thanks for the feedback. I have the Choate Ultimate Sniper on my Savage and I don't like the design of the pistol grip. It's reminiscent of a thumbhole stock in that I have to completely release my grip just to slide the safety selector on or off.

I saw a video of a military sniper (I think) shooting while holding the bolt lever. As soon as the bullet was out of the barrel he was cycling the action. Pretty neat.

nice jimy i am waiting for my xcr that should be arriveing tommorow i'm canadian as well so i cant wait to try out the accuracy with the 18.6" barrel i will post pic when it comes in. i got it 7.62mm and i also got the .223 conversion kit orderd as well.

Nope, the US won't export 5.56 and 7.62x51 stamped firearms atm. 223 and 308 are fine.

We canadians can own 5.56 and 7.62, its the US export laws that screw us =P

This is what a buffer pad looks like after well over 10K rounds. They don't make em like they used to.

I tend to use a single point and attach the sling with a QD swivel at the QD point. In this case using a Magpul sling. Here is the wear that I get from the sling hardware rubbing on the gun.

Not to mention worrying about stabilizing the round in that short of a barrel. with the 1/7" it shouldn't be that big of a deal but I would still use caution.

If it is one of the original barrels it'll be a 1-8. However, given the export process I don't know when the first XCR's made their way up there as it could have been after the swap to 1-9. Insiders feel free to correct at will but to my knowledge only a handful of full length barrels have been produced in 1-7 from the factory. Other than Mini and Micro barrels (1-7) the bulk of the barrels found out there are 1-9.

Worst case, the info is stamped on it!

yeah it kinda sucks we Canadians can owen it we just cant get our hands on it except for 7.62X39 that we can get in abundance ;D
